NSR is excited to share with you this amazing sponsorship update from the Woden Weston Premier Soccer League on their recent success on the field!!

Background

Woden Weston Premier League is a newly formed amalgamated football club in Canberra.  To celebrate their first season, the Women’s Premier League U17 team travelled from Canberra to Alstonville, Northern NSW, to compete in the Alstonville Women’s and Girl’s Tournament. Conducted over two days, the WWPL team played five games and a final in the Women’s Open a pool.

Season update thus far….

Day 1 The girls faced 28-29 degree heat which was a far cry from the 10 degrees they usually experience. Day 2 showed a return to form with some excellent games against some of the top regional NSW teams.  Woden Weston came an overall 4th with scores not reflecting the quality of the games played.  It was however, an excellent tournament and a fantastic time was had by all.

Of the 16 Canberra-based players, four of the players; Chiara Catanzariti, Amy Abbey, Darby Whiteley and Maddie Paull, are recently signed recruits with NSR’s Football Scholarship programme.  Already being a NSR recruit has helped inspire not only their focus on the sport but on their school progress and results. Hence when the call came in for a new AWAY kit, NSR was happy to sponsor the team as well as join them at Alstonville for the weekend.  This sponsorship enabled the team to purchase white & red kit which was played the duration of the tournament.  This was a much cooler option than the usual red/black kit and the girls were keen to have a complete change of colours.

The WWPL Team thanks NSR for its very kind contribution and hopes to see more NSR recruits at the next Womens & Girls Oceania Cup, Alstonville.

Congratulations ladies on their incredible success thus far! We look forward to heading another check in with the ladies in the near future.
