The school also currently the only Division I school to win both major men’s championships (football and basketball) in the same year in 2006.
This school has won 30 national team championships and 275 individual national championships. They compete in the SEC Conference and they have won the conference team championships in the SEC with 224. They also have a history of producing Olympic athletes with 160 ex-students having competing in an Olympic games.
This university fields 21 NCAA sanctioned sports, 12 women’s sports which include; basketball, cross country, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field and volleyball. They field nine men’s programs including; baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.
Their colours are blue and orange and their mascot is a gator because of its importance to the state. Some notable alumni from the university includes; Ryan Lochte, Abbey Wambach, Tim Tebow, Lisa Raymond, DeLisha Milton-Jones, Tammy Jackson, Bridget Sloan, Heather Mitts, Elizabeth Beisel, Conor Dwyer, Dara Torres, Al Horford and Corey Brewer.
