Mark Clattenburg, refereeWe’ve all been there. Sometimes the ref just isn’t seeing things as you see them…resulting in some fiery anger threatening to bubble its way to the surface! Remember these tips to stay positive the next time you’re getting fiery on the field!

Breathe!

Take a couple of breaths and refocus your energy back onto the game and how you’re playing. There’s no point in getting all wound-up on a call you disagree with! Don’t let it distract you from the game.

Use their calls as a guide!

Try and understand why the ref is seeing something a particular way. Ask them, if you need to. This might help you avoid re-creating the same situation.

Ignore the refs

Without disrespecting the refs, try not to let them get into your head while you’re playing. Focus your attention onto how you’re playing, rather than what the ref is doing.
