make the most of studying abroadFor those of you who are just days away from heading off to the experience of your lives in college, we have one piece of final advice to give, make the most of living in a new continent. Experience all that the country has to offer. You owe it to come back to your families as a more wise, well travelled and independent person.

If you can do it, do it!!

Whilst studying overseas, it’s important to experience the whole culture. There is no such thing as being too tired, can’t be bothered or too introverted. During the semester break, try the food at that strange restaurant that everyone goes to, wake up in a city that is on the other side of the country or book a spontaneous trip with a classmate.  Travel experience is an element of education in itself, grow your life experience and create memories that will last you a lifetime.

Did someone say Road trip?

What’s the best way to explore the most remote nooks and crannies of the country? By car ofcourse. Who needs to fly to every state when you can gain an insight into the remote towns around the US. Pack the car with your best college friends and your suitcase and disappear for a road trip that is sure to serve as an eye opening experience!

Chat to EVERYONE

Chat to everyone in your classes, open yourself up to meeting all kinds of people. Create bonds and lasting friendships with different people. Sign up to clubs and social events that will grow your friendship circle immensely!! You’re only at college once so make the most of the moment.

Keep a Diary

Writing down the activities of the day can serve as a lasting reminder of your experience abroad. Make note of the people that you meet in each city and include them in your entries. Although we claim to remember everything about our experiences abroad, the memories soon fade. A journal is a great way to keep these memories sharp and intact!!
