We had a chance to chat with NSR athlete from NSW, Jacob Herbert, on all things NSR:
How has your life changed since signing with NSR?
My life has changed since signing with NSR as it pushes me harder on the field and even in the classroom, so I can play at my full potential and get the best marks I can for me to get a well-earned scholarship over at the States. And also so the coaches can see what I’m really like on the field and also academically.
What do you hope to get out of this whole experience?
Out of the whole experience overseas, I hope to gain a lot more experience in soccer and hopefully start a career out of it. I think that it would be better to be overseas to be playing soccer then in Australia at a younger age, as there are more opportunities over there.
What excites you about living in the USA?
To start off with what excites me in living in the USA, I would have to say just to be in another country playing soccer! I’m excited about the bigger crowds, and more training and more games! Just to be living in another country, studying what I want and playing the sport I love is exciting, and I can’t wait for the experience!
What are your dreams and aspirations?
A dream of mine is to be playing soccer in years to come, with people knowing who I am. I want to stand out from everyone else and make myself the best goalkeeper I can possibly be. Nothing means more to me than soccer, and I want to get somewhere with a professional career!
What’s your greatest sporting and personal accomplishment so far?
My greatest sporting accomplishment so far would have to be getting NSW Futsal State League Goalkeeper of the year.
Wow, we are super impressed, Jacob!
