This school has since cleaned up its bad boy image but that didn’t stop it from continuing in its winning ways.

36 National Team Championships places the Michigan Wolverines tenth for number of championships won and sixth on the all-time championship list for men’s D 1 titles. They are also the only school to hold a men’s basketball national championship, a men’s baseball national championship, a men’s ice hockey national championship and men’s football national championship.

Their school colors and Maize and Blue and a Wolverine for a mascot. They compete in the Big Ten and field 29 NCAA sanctioned sports. The 15 women’s sports which include; basketball, cross country, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, swimming and diving, tennis, indoor track and field, outdoor track and field, water polo, field hockey and volleyball. The 14 men’s programs they field include; baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, swimming and diving, tennis, soccer, lacrosse, wrestling, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field.

The Wolverines have also proven to be very strong outside of college having amassed a total of 150 medals; 72 gold, 39 silver and 39 bronze medals, from the 204 ex students at the Olympics. Arguably there most famous sport alumnus is the current record holder for number of gold medals won at the Olympics, Michael Phelps. Other notable sport alumni include; Greg Barton, DeHart Hubbard, Chris Webber, Jalen Rose, Jamal Crawford and Juwan Howard.
