speaking-teaching-feature.previewWhen talking to a coach for the first time it can be scary but college coaches are just like your coaches at home; relaxed, happy, and just want to help their athletes. Coaches will ask you about your sporting history and aspirations, academic goals, family, hobbies all to see if you have the qualities and characteristics of players they look for.

Coaches will also talk to you about the way they coach their team and what approach they take to coaching to allow you to understand the atmosphere to expect and to see if you agree with their philosophy.

Of course coach will give you plenty of time to ask questions and asking questions shows coach that you have an interest, so certainly don’t be afraid to ask. Questions that athletes and families mostly want to know is about the team, trainings, off season, pre season, campus, town and about the college in general in order to gain a better understanding of the life over there. Don’t be afraid to ask questions to coach and parents don’t be afraid to get involved; coaches enjoy meeting the parents also.

Your coach isn’t just your coach in college, rather they become a mentor, guardian, best friend, parent, and teacher, so open up to them and establish a solid relationship from the beginning and you will have that support throughout your entire college journey.
