To Australians, transferring universities may seem a bit daunting and is not really that common, but in the U.S. collegiate system students transferring colleges happens quite a lot and is not really seen as a big deal.
There are many reasons for transferring, maybe you went through the Junior college system, you want to change your field of study, maybe you want a different experience in a different part of the country, or maybe you have a friend you want to follow to another school. There are a few things you can do to make sure you are prepared to transfer colleges.
- Be proactive, don’t wait for coaches to come to you, email them and start building a rapport.
- Keep your highlights and footage up to date.
- Use you coaches and teammates as resources.
- If possible, try to organise college visits so you can meet with a coach face to face, and potentially train with the team.
- Work with your admissions office to get your college credits transferred
