Attendants of the exclusive, Official NSR Australia Kanga Cup Cocktail Event held at the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra last week were treated to the presence of several soccer superstars.
Goalkeeper for the A-League’s Central Coast Mariners, Liam Reddy, spoke to the crowd about what it’s like to sit on the other side of the fence for a change, watching over his own son.
“It’s really good to come here to Canberra and get to sit on the other side of the fence and see the smile on kids’ faces. It’s great,” he said.
“They’re very tired at the end of the day, so it’s a struggle getting them to bed, but they’re always very excited for the next morning.”
Liam explained that the Kanga Cup was a worthwhile experience for all young budding soccer players.
“It’s a good experience for the kids,” he said.
Liam’s son is already developing a keen interest in goalkeeping, playing half of his games in the goals.
The soccer star admitted that he’s just happy to see his son engage in any physical activity.
“I don’t really care what he plays, as long as he plays some sort of sport and he keeps active,” he explained.
