Lochlan Phillips admits he was “a year younger” than he “should have been” to be able to start playing soccer, with nothing being able to keep him away from the field.
Lochlan has been playing ever since the age of five, loving “everything about” the game.
When Lochlan was invited to trial with NSR, he reveals he was “stoked”, not realising it was possible to take his playing career overseas.
“It’d always kind of been a back-of-the-mind sort of dream to go international with it,” he explained.
The night before his trial, the young talent reveals he was so nervous, that he experienced trouble getting to sleep.
Those nerves proved to not diminish his playing ability, successfully earning a place on the coveted program.
“I was over-the-moon to be honest, I was so, so happy with it,” he remembered.
Since signing with NSR, Lochlan is proud to announce that he’s lifted his academic record, determined to set himself up for the best opportunities possible.
“I was pretty content with just being a C student, and getting just what I needed to get. When I heard that I needed to probably pick up my grades a bit for this, I definitely started working harder,” he said.
The once C-grade student has now lifted his grades, becoming a consistent B-grade student.
“I had interviews with all my teachers and they all were saying how well I’ve done since I had the interview,” he said.
With his academic record experiencing new highs, the young talent now looks to where his future could be after completing his US journey.
“Ideally I’d love to be playing Major League Soccer at the end of college, and see where it goes from there,” he explained.
Lochlan also revealed that he is interested in pursuing psychology and criminology in college, explaining it “should be fun”.
Wow! We’re so proud of you, Lochlan! Keep kicking goals!
