Young golfing talent Matt Caulfield first got into golf at the age of four, his earliest memory of the game attending Sunday morning clinics putting and hitting balls.
This young fascination with golf progressed into a life-long passion of the game, determined to make it to the professional stakes.
Matt continued to expand on his skills, playing for different golf clubs around Australia, and currently holds the title of Captain of the Junior Pennant Team at Joondalup Country Club.
The golfing star also won the title of Male Golf Player of the Year 2014 at KCC Golf Academy, and is poised for similar success this year.
The game has captured Matt’s admiration for many years for a variety of reasons.
“I love how it is both an individual and a team game. It is a sport where you are the one taking responsibility for everything that happens and that is a good lesson for life and while playing golf,” he said.
Matt came across the NSR program one night watching Fox Footy, where his mum “jumped on the website straight away”, explaining he’s been “hooked ever since.”
The hot-shot travelled from Perth to attend a testing day at Royal Melbourne, claiming it was “a great experience.”
Matt is extremely excited to get his NSR journey underway, because of the “exposure it gives to individuals”.
“Many successful Australians have taken this same path to colleges,” he highlighted.
“I am most excited about playing golf every day with the college team and enjoying American college life as it is very different to the type of tertiary education you can get here,” he said.
Matt shares that he is most looking forward to gaining experience and skills from the coaches and his world-class peers.
“I hope these will help me progress and help me achieve my goals,” he said.
“I have travelled to the USA a few times and really enjoyed it.”
This one is aiming for the stars, and we can definitely see him getting there! Well done, Matt!
