Every once in a while we meet a young athlete that displays immense dedication to their sport.
Young NSR Soccer athlete, Tess McVilly (FFV), lives in the small country town of Bairnsdale with her family, three hours from Melbourne city. Every Friday, our young athlete attends school for the first two classes of the day before she leaves to get onto the V-line train to come to Melbourne city. From Flinder’s Street station, Tess catches the additional Lilydale/Belgrave lines to Mitcham where her Grandfather picks her up. Tess attends soccer training at 6pm for her soccer team, The Bulleen Bullants. A weekly occurrence for one of our most promising, yet modest young athletes!
Tess’ passion for the sport started at the age of eight when her father took her down to the local soccer field to watch a game. Upon being asked to fill in for an absent player, Tess took up the game and has been playing it now for seven years. Tess describes her inspiration was drawn from a local coach who motivated her in an interesting way. After being given videos on techniques to perform, Tess was given a table of tricks and skills to complete throughout the soccer season. Once a skill was completed, Tess ticked it off and was given a pair of socks for each level completed. This process took 3 years to complete, a highlighted accomplishment within this young athlete’s soccer career.
After signing with NSR, Tess is already looking forward to her bright future as a college athlete. Looking to attend college in New York, Miami or Florida, Tess looks to pursue a career with a background of English studies.
We look forward to checking back in with this promising athlete in the near future!!
