After a mere four abroad at Calumet College, our soccer superstar, Mitchell Osmond (NSW), earned himself a place on the impressive PDL team, Thunder Bay Chill.
The star shared that his journey, albeit a short one so far, has been filled with positives.
“I’ve met great people, experienced a new culture that I’ve loved so far, and I’m achieving some success in a short time period, so I’ve been happy here,” he said.
The determined star desperately wanted to continue his playing career over the mid-season break, causing him to do some research.
“I had put a lot of time and effort into researching the best avenues to be seen in and find the top quality leagues to play in, and that’s where I came across the Thunder Bay chill,” he explained.
“I saw that it was a very professional club that had enjoyed a fair bit of success of the years and I wanted to be a part of it.”
“Once I got offered a spot on the roster I was both excited and relieved but more than anything, determined to do well,” he explained.
For all other NSR athletes about to head overseas for their own journey, Mitchell has some first-hand successful advice to pass on: “Be persistent and hard working. There’s always going to be people that say no or don’t quite believe in you but I feel that if you work hard every day to get better and believe in your abilities then keep knocking on doors and creating your own opportunities because eventually someone will take notice,” he said.
The successful young adult also placed an emphasis on hard work being directly related to success.
“It takes a huge amount of hard work, dedication and sacrifices. You have to be willing to train every day, especially when you don’t feel like it… also, do not underestimate the off-field aspect of the game…diet…rest,” he said.
You heard it here, folks! What an inspiring young man.
