NSR’s own soccer champion, Frankie Azzopardi (VIC), has been playing competitive soccer for eight years now.
After kicking the ball around with friends at primary school, Frankie thought he was “pretty good” at it, so decided to play for a club, establishing a life-long love of the game.
These days, Frankie is unstoppable on the soccer field.
Frankie lists his greatest playing strength as his speed, as well as having plenty of other solid skills.
“I’m strong on the ball, so I can hold the ball off. Body-to-body, I’m pretty strong,” he said.
Despite his strong playing ability, Frankie maintains he’s always looking to push himself further.
“I’ve always been that sort of player where there’s always room for improvement no matter how good you are, so either way, there’s always room for improvement,” he said.
In order to give himself the best possible opportunity to achieve greatness, Frankie places great importance on nutrition.
“Motivation starts with what you eat. I think if you eat the right stuff you’re going to go a long way,” he said.
“It’s exactly like a car. What you put in the car is what you’re going to get out of it. As a player, it’s who you are.”
Aside from constantly eating nourishing food, Frankie practices several rituals before game day.
“In the morning I like to watch…highlights from my game the night before. So it starts to stick in my mind and stuff,” he says.
This will be followed by a car trip filled with music, in order to keep his motivation flowing.
Frankie shares that he is extremely grateful to NSR for being able to push him further.
“NSR has pushed me, because it’s given me this opportunity and goal to get somewhere,” he said.
With an ultimate game to play football professionally, Frankie is extremely excited for all the opportunities the US holds, as well as being able to challenge himself against high-quality competition.
“I just want to see how I am as a player. If I’m playing against better players, I find that I push myself harder.”
Awesome advice, Frankie!
