Almost every college sport involves working in a team to achieve a goal. These are lifelong lessons that will help you in all other avenues of your life – from your personal relationships to the corporate workplace. If you want to be successful in any area of your life, you will need to learn how to positively work together with others, effectively communicating to achieve a common goal!
Prioritising things:
Time is limited, and it’s very important to dedicate time to important aspects of your life to ensure you’re giving your best effort in everything you do! As a student athlete, you’ll have to juggle a lot of things. Studying, training, playing, resting, socialising, keeping up communication with your family while you’re abroad…by prioritising your time and listing your tasks in order of importance will help you get everything you need to do be done in an efficient time frame!
Hard work is first…fun comes later!
You are at college for a reason, to continue your sporting and academic careers! You can’t let either slide, or it will affect your place at school. A lot of hard work and effort needs to go into keeping your head above ground, making sure you’re doing the best you can in both areas. Once you’ve been dedicating a lot of time into these areas, you can also dedicate time to your social life! It’s all about balance, you can’t have too much of one thing or the other areas will suffer!
Aim for the stars!
Competing for a college sports team, you don’t aim to finish last. You’ll work your hardest to get the best results, aiming for nothing but the top. You will carry these practices onto other areas of your life, after college. Hard work will always achieve positive results. Always endeavour to get the best of everything, never settle!
