NSR Australia sits down with hockey (VIC) prospect Anna Tonti-Filippini, who has been playing hockey since the age of 9. Anna tells of how a company ‘Hook into Hockey’ came to her school to encourage participation. After seeking a sporting hobby that was both fast paced and skill driven, Anna took up field hockey, which soon became her passion.
We asked Anna what her most proud sporting achievement was, here’s what Anna had to say “…my proudest moment was probably my hockey awards ceremony last year where I won; MVP for her fillies team, MVP on grand final day for her seconds team and most valuable junior players to play for seniors…”
Whilst at college, Anna plans to study forensic science as she has a strong interest in understanding how the body works. In order to reach this goal, Anna has started to plan her subject selections around her area of interest to ensure that she obtains the right qualifications needed to persue a future in this field.
Anna goes on to tell of her desire to become involved in the culture that the US has to offer, along with the change in scenery that accompanies the opportunity of studying in a foreign country. Additionally, the training facilities open to Anna will allow her to grow and develop her hockey skills.
For those athletes looking to follow a similar pathway to Anna through the NSR programme, Anna advises to “…believe in yourself and to train hard…”
We look forward to catching up with Anna in the near future!
