The Visa Application Process:
Over-preparation is key! With the help of my parents and NSR, applying and receiving my F-1 Student Visa was painless and quick. I believe it was this way because we went above and beyond to make sure we had all the correct documents and supporting documents so that nothing could go wrong, and if it did we were ready!
NSR will provide you with a comprehensive list of all the documents you need in order to apply for the visa as well as what you need to take to your interview appointment, so make sure you’ve got all that you need before applying! Applying for the visa and booking an appointment online is quite a time consuming process, it took myself and my dad an hour or two! So make sure you give yourself plenty of time to sit down and go through it carefully with a parent to make sure it’s stress free.
Being so prepared for the visa interview at the U.S Consulate made it super easy, and I was in out of there in 45 minutes. If you’ve applied online without a hitch and you’ve got all the right documents ready to go, all that will happen is you will go through a security check and escorted to a number of different desks, where someone will check your documents. You will then get your fingerprints taken, once that’s done you’ll move on to your ‘interview’ which is just someone in a booth asking questions such as “Why did you choose this school?”, “What are you studying?” and/or “Who is paying for your trip?”. You will then be told to head over to the cashier, where you will pay for you visa and you’re done! Easy!
Depending on a number of different factors the process make to take you less or more time, as well as how long it may take to receive your visa in the mail, for me it was only a couple of days!”
