Domenic Vartuli had always loved golf, but took a few years off as a teenager, before slowing getting into it again during his late teens.
The young golfer had a fellow golfing friend return to Australia after going over to the States.
“When he came back we played golf together and he said, ‘You know it’s not that hard if you’ve got the talent, and you’re good enough. You’ve got to get yourself out there’”, he recalled.
The young talent decided to follow the advice, and tried out at the NSR skills evaluation at Royal Melbourne.
“I was invited to go try out at Royal Melbourne to make the team at NSR, and it all happened pretty quick after that,” he said.
After a successful trial, Dom recalls he was “definitely happy”.
“It was a big high considering I was studying Year 12. Sometimes when you study Year 12 you’re unsure of what you’re going to do when you finish, and this gave me clarity,” he said.
Dom looks towards studying a business administration degree, and is extremely excited about starting his U.S pathway.
“I’d like to be the best, and I’d like to have fun,” he said.
“I just like the challenge of playing against better people and going to America, where 70% of the world’s talent is, kind of gives me the chance to have fun and try and improve my game.”
Definitely sounds like a plan, Dom!
