Guess the correct state!? Learn about the amazing rugby program that’s located almost right in the middle of the US!

The small town of Jonesboro, Arkansas is located approximately an hour away from Memphis, Tennessee. It is a small town based in an agricultural hub where sport is everything. The football team has had its share of success but it’s the Arkansas State University rugby that has one of the strongest up and coming rugby programs at college level in America.

In 7’s alone the Red Wolves has won the last two National Rugby 7’s championships as well as the Las Vegas International. It boasts over 30 international players including players from South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

In February 2014, the university announced its partnership with the International Rugby Academy of New Zealand (IRANZ). This allows the Red Wolves program to have access IRANZ coaches, clinics and mentors as well as promote the program as an international rugby academy.

In July 2014 it was also announced that The Arkansas State University Rugby Team would be the 13th member in the Varsity Cup Championships. The in the Varsity Cup Championships include the University of Texas, the University of Oklahoma, the University of Notre Dame, Brigham Young University, Clemson University, University of California Los Angeles, University of California Berkley, Central Washington University, Dartmouth University, United States Air Force Academy, the University of Utah and the United States Naval Academy.

The 15’s rugby season kicks off on the first weekend in April as the Red Wolves take on Clemson University in South Carolina. Coach NeManiDelaibatiki and 15’s captain Tom Haussrer will be looking to start the season off on a successful note.
