MATT BOMFORDMatt Bomford (TAS) first recalls getting into soccer at the tender age of three years old!

“I had a small set of inflatable goals in my backyard and absolutely loved to just mess about with a ball,” he recalls.

Matt has been heavily involved with soccer since pre-school, consistently playing with clubs.

“I grew up with heaps of support, fantastic coaching and a great community involving soccer,” he explained.

“My parents pushed me into heaps of opportunities, giving me the best chance to do well.”

Matt is so excited to begin his newest incredible opportunity with NSR.

“I thought that this could be an awesome opportunity to get recognised so I started thinking of soccer as less of a past-time and more of a possible career pathway. I think I took a much more serious and professional outlook on soccer as a whole,” he shared.

Matt can’t wait to get his US college experience underway, granting him access to a higher-quality of the football world.

“I think I’m most excited for the atmosphere of stadiums. I did some research and checked out stadiums and saw that heaps of people came to watch you. At my games there are parents and occasionally grandparents but the idea of an entire stadium watching you is really exciting to me,” he said.

“I’m really keen to go there to meet new people, discover and learn new things and get some great training and education,” he added.

The determined young star looks to fuse his education with a sports edge, interested in a career in sports medicine, sports science, or physical education.

As well as gaining an incredible education and furthering his soccer career Matt’s also looking forward to living the American and college culture.

“One thing that I can’t wait to do when I get over is become acclimatised to the American culture,” he said.

“I’d also be really excited to meet the people I will be staying with and being immersed in the College life.

Those are some great plans, Matt! We can’t wait for you to start getting those awesome college offers in a few years!
