Was the atmosphere different to that of a game in Australia? How so?

Yeah a little bit, they do take their sports not just soccer quite seriously.

Also that fan bases that come to watch are a lot bigger than what I have seen. It is especially entertaining when some of the colleges we play have fans who dress up in funny outfits and the banter and heckling is quite entertaining.

How do you find the fans within the US compared to those within Australia?

Some of the fans over here take their sports spectating too seriously, but that happens all over the place. Some of them have funny and entertaining costumes and others have a bit of banter to throw at us.

One of my favourite memories occurred when some of the ‘excited footballers’ of an opposing team were up on a hill near where I was along with another other Australian girl. It was a huge college game with a great deal of rivalry, causing the footballers to be pretty heated on and off the field. When we were leaving, the opposing team told us to go back to England! I found this quite funny because we weren’t English; however, we did give a bit of stick back to the footballers for getting that detail wrong.
