There must be something in the water at Louisiana State University. This is a school known for being a powerhouse football school and producing superstar athletes. Year after year they produce countless first round draft picks. The athlete making the headlines currently is Jasmine Stowers.
This 23-year old alumnus is currently leading the Diamond League for the 100m hurdles with eight points after winning two meets. Stowers has had an extremely strong start to her professional career having beaten fellow compatriots, Olympic Gold Medal winner Dawn Harper-Nelson and current World Champion Brianna Rollins at the Drake Relays.
In addition to this her time to with the Doha Diamond League meet placed her seventh on the all-time fastest list with the season fastest time of 12.35 seconds. In college she was second only to Sharika Nelvis but her professional debut proves that the USA and college have a habit of producing athletes that can perform on the world-stage. With Sally Pearson most likely not competing at the World Championships it could be an all USA affair as Jasmine Stowers looks to beat out Dawn Harper-Nelson, Brianna Rollins and college rival Sharika Nelson to get gold.
