Burgeoning athletic star Cody Rodwell signed up to the NSR program early in 2015, and already shines as one of NSR Australia’s brightest recruits.

The star baseball player has achieved considerable success at a State level, with the pitcher and right fielder being an integral part of the Kookaburra’s first winning representative team.

The win, that took place in South Carolina, only urged his desire to follow his baseball dreams overseas.

If his outstanding baseball and softball talent wasn’t enough to make him a sporting powerhouse, Cody is also trained in athletics, and continues to experience considerable success on the track.

We got the opportunity to chat with Cody, who had some exciting information to share about his latest achievements.

What is your ultimate dream you want to achieve by going to the US?

My ultimate dream would be to play for a NCAA College team like Clemson and then play for the Texas Rangers, who I follow in the Major League.

Can you list your three biggest achievements?

My three biggest achievements so far are all sporting. The biggest would be being part of the Sunbury Little Athletics Relay team. I have been a part of the 5 member team for 7 years. Over the 7 years we have won Gold medals at both our Region and the Victorian State Championships. Last year alone we won the 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and 800 metre medley at the State Championships. At this event we also achieved the Australian best performance in the 4 x 100. My next biggest achievement would be making the School Sport Victoria U12 Softball team, then making the U17 Team 4 years later. In U12 we traveled to Canberra to compete in the Australian Championships and this year I travel to Adelaide to compete in the Pacific School Games. I think then the next would be again being part of two great teams. The U17 Victorian Softball team and the U15/U16 Victorian Kookaburra’s team. The U17 Victorian Softball team we travel to Perth in 2016 to compete in the Australian championships and I traveled this year to the United States with the U15/U16 Victorian Kookaburra’s.

What do you hope coaches see in you?
I hope that my coaches and others see the hard work I have put in over the years. I started at Little Athletics when I was 5. From about when I was 7, I started training in athletics. I now train and compete every day, either at school (I attend Maribyrnong Sports Academy) or with my personal Athletics coach, or softball/baseball. I love to train and hope coaches pick up on my love of sports also.

Where do you hope you are in 5 years after your NSR journey ?

I am not sure of a career path yet, I am still 14…but after NSR, hopefully a degree in something and still playing for the Rangers. (My dad said the bit about the degree!)

If there’s one thing we’re sure about here at NSR, it’s that Cody Rodwell is a name you’ll definitely be hearing in the future.
