Marcel Boet hails from Christchurch, lucky enough to call home to some of the most stunning golf courses in the Southern Hemisphere. From a young age, the talented golfer knew he had one goal, and one goal only: to become a professional golf player. Fast-forward a few years, the young star is one of NSR Australia’s most prized golfers, already achieving considerable success before his college pathway has begun. We had a chat with Marcel, who offered us an insight into how he feels about being part of the NSR Australia team.

What do you hope to gain out of this whole experience?

I have always been very interested in playing different sports, but golf has always been my favourite sport.  I have played golf since the age of five at club, regional, national and international level. I have recently returned from California, where I have competed against the best junior golfers in the world in several tournaments including the IMG Junior World Championship at Torrey Pines, San Diego. I hope to be to play top college golf in the USA so I can compete against some of the best amateur golfers in the USA. By being able to play top college golf I will be able to play the sport I love at a high level and obtain a degree at the same time. College golf will give me a pathway to make it as an international professional golfer which is my dream, whilst at the same time give me an opportunity to gain life experience as a student and gain an education.

What is your dream?

I have always wanted to be a successful international professional golfer at a high level. My dream is to be successful on an international tour, perhaps even the PGA tour.

How has signing with NSR changed your life so far?

Before signing with NSR I used to run my own college golf resume. This relies on college coaches having to search for me on there college resume website which seems a random process where you can easily be unnoticed. Signing with NSR has allowed me to be promoted to a wide range of colleges and coaches. NSR does the necessary background work for you, promoting and organising and sending information to as wide an audience as possible. According to the easily managed prospect portal, over twenty coaches have already assessed my data and with two years to go before I start college, the NSR experience has allowed my resume to be checked out by coaches at an early stage.

WOW. Make sure you remember the name Marcel Boet, folks!
