Hey Guys,

Here is my first blog since coming on board with the NSR organisation. I’m new to the whole blogging world and heard it can become quite addictive, so I’m looking forward to keeping you all up to date with what’s news with Matildas, Western Sydney Wanderers W-League and basically my life as an Australian Indigenous Female footballer.

Unfortunately at the moment I’ve had a bad run of luck sustaining a major knee injury (torn ACL), in a friendly match against the USA on Oct 20th a couple of months back. I’m post surgery by 7 weeks on Tuesday and this life style has definitely been a change from my usual training schedule. On the flip side it has been a blessing in disguise with opportunities as such, like the new found relationship with Marco, the NSR team and myself to support an organisation I believe that forms a path to success given the commitment, dedication, hard work and other important values to all be invested just as equally.

I’m very excited to be apart of I’m hoping to be a very long living relationship with NSR, offering advice and sharing my own personal experiences with so much young raw talent Australia has to offer to the USA in particular, but ongoing to the world. I want to keep you up to date with what’s going on in my life, hoping that through my monthly blogs you guys can feel apart of my journey and hopefully in return I can have a positive affect on yours too.

Well what’s news, the injured life has given me the chance to be the best spectator I have ever been and boy has it been tough watching. I’ve told my Wanderers girls that I’m going to be grey headed by the end of the season, with the game being out of my control and seeing things but not being able to act is probably one of the hardest things I’ve had to endure as a footballer, obviously besides injury. But with the team being rid of injuries in the first quarter of the season and not being able to sustain our first win in 3 games of the W-League, our team looks to only improve with the likes of key personnel looking to return to the squad in the coming weeks, which I’m so excited to site.

Stay tuned, I hope it’s a good read for you and there definitely will be more from where this came from. Between physio x2, gym x5, attending team training sessions/game x4 per week and studying a Business Management course full time online, I have definitely not been as bored as I was told I would be. I’m hoping to make the most of this next 12 months, dedicating a lot more of my time pursuing my off field career, engaging with local communities, sharing thoughts with all of you guys and basically doing things I haven’t ever had the time to do, so I’m looking forward to it. It really is true, ‘when one door closes, another opens’, exciting times 🙂

  Yours truly,

 Ky
