sam collierSam Collier discovered baseball when he was five years old, after being transfixed by an exciting baseball game.

“When I was five, there was a baseball field out the back of our house. I just walked out the back door accidentally one day, and I ended up watching a game. My parents couldn’t find me for two hours. I just sat there and watched the game, and I really enjoyed watching it,” he said.

This particular event set in motion a life-long passion for the game, with Sam explaining that, “Ever since then, baseball has been what I want to do.”

Sam explains that a large part of his love for baseball is the team setting, enjoying “having a good time with them, and fighting til the end of the game.”

“When I did get accepted into NSR, I saw it as a way of really helping me, and supporting me get to where I want to be with baseball,” he said.

“I got really happy with NSR, and really wanted to join them in the hopes they can help me all the way.”

Signing with NSR has given Sam the determination to achieve solid academic results as he prepares to get offers from US colleges.

“Right now I’m trying to get at least an A or B in every subject,” he shared.

The baseball talent plans to study physiotherapy whilst overseas, but the greatest excitement is to play his sport on American soil.

“I enjoy being here, but the thought of being over there playing, what to me is the greatest sport, is probably the best and one of the main reasons I do want to go to America,” he said.

“I really want to achieve this to try and get as high as I can, and play in the big leagues.”

Sam admits that his greatest dream is to play with the Pittsburgh Pirates, although he agrees he’d be flexible.

“To me, I’d play with any team that would take me (laughs).”

Awesome, Sam! We can’t wait to see you in that Pittsburgh yellow one day!
