It is a very exciting time when you are deciding on a college and where you want to live and play collegiate sport in America. It is very easy to get caught up in the moment with all the excitement and look further into the future.
A plan and a positive outlook are necessary; however it is unnecessary to get too far ahead of yourself. Worrying about getting drafted, transferring to a big Division 1 University or obtaining a large scholarship are brilliant dreams to have for your future, however they can hinder the development and improvement of your skills in the present.
If you are looking too far ahead into your future you forget about what you can be doing in the present to give yourself a better chance of reaching your goals. It is vital that you work hard on and off the field right now in order to reap the benefits later on. The only way you can improve as an athlete and as a student is if you try and better yourself in both aspects now. Work hard in training, work hard in your particular sport, and work hard in the classroom and the rest you won’t have to worry about because it will all come.
Focus on the now.
