As the Christmas holiday season approaches, we checked in with a few of our student athletes that are currently overseas and spending their first Christmas away from home…
Hannah’s story!
Hannah Caithness from Lourdes University, Ohio (pictured above, right), divulges her holiday plans to NSR, in the lead up to her first WHITE Christmas experience in the USA!
Hannah is very excited about spending the 4 week Christmas break in the USA this year because she’s expecting an extravagant & decorated festive display!
“I am really excited about this because the US really puts on a show for Christmas decorating streets, buildings and trees and it feels very festive.”
“I am planning to spend separate weeks with different families of my friends who have become close to me at college. I will be spending Christmas day with my roommate and her family, who live around 40 minutes away and we will be staying at their house where they have family over for Christmas lunch.”
Although Hannah admits that it will be hard being away from home this Christmas, she seems eager to embrace this new & exciting experience.
“Not being in Australia for Christmas will be hard because I have a small, tight knit family but I know that staying with my roommate will feel like family and it will be a great experience, especially having Christmas in the winter!”
For those of you, just like Hannah, spending Christmas away from family this year, I challenge you to embrace this once in a lifetime opportunity & experience of new places, people & traditions to make some special memories that will last you for a lifetime!
Merry Christmas, Hannah! We hope you enjoy the festive season & New Year with your College friends & families! We can’t wait to hear all about your holiday adventures!
